About us

Die Oberkrainer Polka Mädels continue the tradition that began in 2012. When we first stepped onto the stage, we brought fresh energy, youth, and a passion for authentic Oberkrainer music. Our sounds resonated not only in Slovenia but also abroad, where our love for Avsenik’s music won over audiences and earned us prestigious awards.

For our interpretation of Avsenik’s music across Europe, we were honored with the renowned Oberkrainer Award. Additionally, we achieved third place from the expert jury at the Alpen Grand Prix competition in Italy.

Slovenian festivals are also close to our hearts: At the Festival of Folk Music in Števerjan, the audience awarded us first place, and we also received the prize for the best melody of the festival.

After five years of pause, we are back—stronger, more united, and ready to conquer the stage once again! Our new lineup consists of Nina Cukjati, Neja Debeljak, Klara Štavdekar, Lenča Debeljak, Lea Krajnčič, and Patricija Obretan.

As a music teacher, Neja not only introduces students to the world of sound but also ensures the perfect sound for us! She is the strict yet warm-hearted boss of our rehearsals – always making sure everything is spot on. Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, but always with a clear vision. Without her, our sound wouldn’t be the same!
